Takacs Pince, Hunor Tokaji 2022

Flag of Hungary

Adrienn Takacs is the third generation winemaker of this small family run estate in Mád, in the heart of the world-renowned Tokaji wine region. She is on a mission to both maintain and restore the centuries old traditions for which Tokaji is best known and shine a modern spotlight on Hungarian sweet wines. Named after her son, Hunor, who was born in the same year (2022), this is a late-harvest Tokaji made from a blend of Furmint and Hárslevelű. The overripe grapes were picked late in October, after the berries had gone through a meticulous selection for this wine. After pressing, controlled fermentation followed, which stopped at 150 g/l residual sugar creating a rich but elegant sweet wine from Tokaj. It has a golden colour followed by aromas of peach, pears with raisin-like sweet grapes which can also be felt on the palate. The wine has a fresh taste, sweetness and acidity nicely balanced on the long finish.
